Part of a series of twelve entitled Sisu, which is the Finnish concept of stoic determination, quiet courage, resilience and grace in the face of adversity. Each piece combines landscape, memory, symbolism and the presence of birds as witnesses or companions within the scene. The works are paired with words from remarkable women whose lives and voices embody strength, compassion and endurance. Together, the series becomes a meditation on perseverance, humanity and hope.
