The gallery is set to open in Ashbourne’s town centre in April 2026, promising an exciting cultural addition for residents and visitors. The gallery will showcase works by leading contemporary artists from across the UK, focusing on strong technical skill, figurative work and compelling modern subject matter.
The new space aims to fill a gap in Ashbourne’s growing arts scene, offering a dedicated venue for high-quality visual art while complementing the town’s historic character. Located next to Costa Coffee set over two floors within walking distance of the Market Place, the gallery is expected to contribute to the town’s wider regeneration and cultural tourism ambitions.
The venue will host a programme of rotating exhibitions, artist talks, workshops and educational events. The gallery will provide a welcoming space where people can engage directly with artists and artworks that reflect modern life through traditional skills.
The opening exhibition Brushed Light - Atmospheric Watercolours will feature a mix of artists speacialising in watercolour. With strong support from local businesses and arts organisations, the gallery hopes to become a long-term cultural hub and a destination for art lovers visiting Ashbourne and the Peak District.
