Opening a gallery is the next logical step for the Hopton Hall Estate whose owners Chris and Andi Harvey have a love of art and a large beautiful collection of modern and C19 and earlier art works that adorn the walls of the hall.
Each year in July for the Month of Art they open the grounds of Hopton Hall to artists to come and paint in the Rose Gardens. This has happened since 2023 and each year there has been a winner voted for by the public who wins a thousand pound prize. You can view some of the artist works on this website here.
The gallery is an extension of all of the above and will cement their relationship with the various artists they have commisioned and worked with over the last few years since they returned from America in 2019.
There is a lot of work to be carried out before they can open the gallery and not least the actual building work itself that is underway. The building is Grade II listed and has taken alot of planning to get to the point where any building works can take place. The interior is now being finalised and it is intended to be a contempoary mix of modern with pockets of the old building revealed.
This website has taken three weeks to build its not just the front face that has to be developed but all the links , policies and terms and conditions that are required to be written into it.
The most important part of any gallery are the artists and we have issued an expression of interest post on our social media channels Instagram and Facebook which has allowed artists to send in their images and websites for us to choose.
Selection will take place in the new year and it will be exciting to meet the artists and begin taking in their work and adding to our website.
For now we are thinking about taking a short break for Christmas so we will keep you updated in the New Year.
