Greta is a multi-award winning oil painter, art tutor, nature-lover, rock climber and former neuroscientist. She paints light-filled landscape, floral and animal paintings that tug at the heart strings, both from her studio in Sheffield and en plein air in the Peak District. She also runs workshops and demonstrations.
Greta began painting as a way to express her love for nature and the outdoors after experiencing burnout in academic research. Following years spent in a laboratory, she sought to reconnect with the natural world and began painting prolifically, gaining early recognition through her “100 Paintings in 100 Days” project and winning the Search Press Award for her painting Mother and Calf.
Deeply inspired by the countryside, her work conveys a sense of cosy nostalgia, wonder and appreciation for plants, animals and rural landscapes. She works from her studio in Sheffield as well as en plein air across the Peak District, often painting directly within the landscape.
In 2022, Greta was awarded an Arts Council DYCP grant, enabling her to pursue painting full-time. She has since exhibited widely, including with the Chelsea Art Society, Cambrian Art Society and The Artist magazine exhibition at Patchings Art Centre, where her plein air painting Early Spring at Padley Gorge received two awards. Alongside her practice, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge, writing for The Artist magazine, demonstrating for art groups and leading her own workshops.
