Rebecca Perry is a ceramic artist based in Sheffield, whose practice explores the relationship between ceramics, painting and the natural landscape. After graduating from Staffordshire University in 2018, Rebecca continued developing her skills and establishing her own creative practice. In 2019, after moving to Sheffield and setting up her studio, she was awarded the Peak District Artisans Young Emerging Artisan Award.
Rebecca’s work is inspired by the natural world, particularly landscapes and running water. Her expressive painting style is translated onto porcelain forms through abstract marks, gestural lines, colour and texture. She uses coloured slips, mono-printing and bold glazes to create layered surfaces, treating each pot as a canvas for her drawings.
Porcelain has become integral to Rebecca’s practice due to its white, translucent qualities, providing an ideal surface for her intricate and expressive decoration. Her work reflects a fascination with the textures, movement and patterns found within the landscape, transforming these observations into tactile ceramic pieces.
Based in Sheffield, Rebecca draws inspiration from her surroundings and continues to explore the possibilities of surface decoration and form. Her work combines traditional ceramic processes with a contemporary, painterly approach, inviting viewers to connect with the energy and beauty of the natural world.
