Sue Lewis Blake is a multidisciplinary artist whose drawing-led practice explores ideas through evolving processes from two-dimensional work to three-dimensional form.
Sue Lewis Blake is an artist whose practice is driven by sustained investigation into a chosen theme, explored through a wide range of media, techniques and compositional approaches. Drawing lies at the heart of her work and underpins all stages of her creative process, from initial exploratory sketches to finished works in their own right. Through this process of continual reworking and development, two-dimensional drawings often evolve into mixed-media collages, which may then progress into relief pieces or fully three-dimensional forms.
This fluid movement between disciplines allows Sue to test ideas physically and conceptually, responding intuitively to material, scale and structure. Her work demonstrates a strong sense of material awareness and an interest in the transformation of surface, space and form. Sue has exhibited widely, with paintings shown in the UK, France and Germany, and her work is held in numerous private collections. In 2020, she was shortlisted for the inaugural £10,000 Castlegate Prize, marking a significant recognition of her practice.
