Richard Holland British

Richard Holland is a professional artist whose expressive, impressionistic paintings capture the beauty of landscapes and still life through vibrant colour, confident brushwork and a lifelong passion for artistic exploration.

Richard’s lifelong passion for art began in primary school, inspired in part by his father’s artistic talent. After discovering watercolour painting in his early twenties, he later studied A-level Art under Liz Wood at Patching Art Centre, developing a lasting affinity for oil painting and a distinctive artistic voice.

In 2010, Richard became a professional artist, building on a decade of teaching experience. For over fourteen years, he has led oil and watercolour classes, alongside delivering demonstrations and workshops to art societies nationwide. His work has also featured in Leisure Painter Magazine.

Living in the Derbyshire Dales, Richard draws inspiration from the surrounding landscapes, while still life has become an equally rewarding subject. Working predominantly in oils, he combines expressive brushwork, vibrant colour and an impressionistic sensibility, informed by plein-air sketches and first-hand observation.

With growing confidence and ambition, Richard continues to refine his practice, pursuing new exhibition opportunities and aspiring to full membership of the RBSA.
