A vibrant break from traditional painting! Using acrylics on black paper, we’ll explore the effects of painting the negative spaces.

Join Denise Cliffen for or a vibrant, hands-on workshop where we’ll flip the script on traditional painting! Using acrylics on black paper, we’ll explore the art of negative painting. Instead of painting the trees, we’ll paint the space around them. By applying brushstrokes to fill the sky and foliage, we allow the dark paper to define the structure of the woodland. This "loose and fun" approach creates a stunning, high-contrast effect that really pops once we add the final highlights. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists. The workshop will take place on the first floor of the gallery.

Denise was heat semi-finalist on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the year 22 and had exhibited with The Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Pastel Society at the Mall Galleries London.
