Jill is an artist and designer whose work combines fine art and landscape architecture, exploring colour, light and pattern through layered prints and paintings inspired by the British landscape.
Jill is an artist and designer with over 30 years of experience, originally trained in Fine Art before pursuing a career as a Landscape Architect. In 2012, she founded Jill Ray Landscapes, bringing together her design expertise and artistic practice. Her distinctive printmaking technique developed through her professional work, where she discovered the creative potential of digital tools to build layered, translucent compositions. Alongside this, she has rekindled her passion for oil painting, often combining traditional and contemporary methods, including the use of an iPad as a sketchbook. Her work explores colour, light and the rhythms of the landscape, drawing inspiration from the Dark Peak, the woodlands of Sheffield and Chatsworth, and the British coastline, resulting in bold, atmospheric pieces defined by pattern and layered form.
