Ian Patrick Palmer British, b. 1947

Ian is a sculptor who combines metal, wood, and Raku ceramics to explore the interplay between the man-made and the natural.
an grew up among the ironworks of the Black Country and began sculpting in metal as a teenager. After living for over 20 years in southern Spain, he developed a passion for joining metal with olive wood, later incorporating Raku ceramics to complete his trio of materials. Combining heat-coloured metals, the natural grain of English woods, and the unpredictable effects of Raku glazes, Ian's work explores the interplay between the man-made and natural, chance and intention.
