Sarah EA Parkin is a well known award winning artist who paints watercolour landscapes of the Derbyshire Dales.
Sarah paints the quieter, less-seen views of places around Matlock, including Ashover, Rowsley, Chesterfield and Wirksworth. Her work explores the relationship between the built environment and the surrounding landscape, using expressive line, ink and watercolour to capture atmosphere, season and a strong sense of place.
Originally trained in printed textile design, with further study in Oriental painting and Chinese ink techniques, she settled in Derbyshire in 1997 and gradually shifted her focus to landscape painting, working largely outdoors. Her work is inspired by the area's rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, trees and town vistas.
