How would you describe your artistic style to someone unfamiliar with your work?
Although a semi abstract style I generally err on the side of the figurative. Fairly bold
but minimal brushwork. Always striving for that economy of stroke and have the marks say more than perhaps they should.
How does your immediate environment or location play in your work?
I oil sketch en plein air around the Peak District and have those studies inspire/inform
my work.
What tools, materials, or techniques are essential to your practice? Is there a colour you just couldn't do without?
I usually work with a limited palette: Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Yellow
Ochre, Lemon Yellow and Titanium White
If you could give the younger you advice what would it be?
Dig in and work harder. Do not take a twenty year hiatus!
